Truecaller, the widely used caller ID application with a vast global user base, has unveiled its latest offering: a new web client. Tailored for Android users in India, this web iteration introduces several enhancements, including the capability to identify unknown numbers and synchronize Truecaller chat and SMS. The company affirms that the web client is compatible with all major modern browsers and accessible on both Mac and PC platforms.
To utilize Truecaller Web, users can navigate to ‘web.truecaller.com’ and activate the app on their mobile device. Within the app, proceed to the Messages section and access the three-dot menu. From there, select ‘Truecaller for Web,’ choose ‘Link Device,’ and align the phone with the QR code displayed in the browser.
The web-based version of the application facilitates SMS exchange provided Truecaller is set as the default SMS app, and users can also attach files up to 100MB in size. Additionally, users have the option to configure real-time call alert notifications for incoming calls.
Truecaller currently imposes limitations on the number of active sessions and will automatically log out users after 30 days of inactivity. Similar to platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, users retain the ability to manually unlink a browser. The company indicates that the web client is presently in beta, with plans for the gradual rollout of additional features in the near future.
Previously, users could search for unknown numbers on the website with certain rate limitations. However, the web version of Truecaller appears to eliminate such restrictions, enabling users to search for an unlimited number of numbers.
